Got Animal(s) in …What do I look for if I think I have one
.If you are hearing chewing in your walls and or attic it is likely that you have squirrels. It could be mice or Bats it could be all of the above as they will reside together. Difference being, mice sound like a light tapping just enough to make you crazy. Squirrels will sound like a hammer drill on low. Bats you won’t hear at all except when they are entering and exiting. Bats will communicate with each other with this high pitch squeal sounding something like the screech a Sea Gull makes.
Another difference is, usually squirrels work their way down.Bats usually only work their way down in the winter. The longer the squirrels have been there, the more holes they’ve had a chance to make. Mice will work their way up. Mouse droppings in the basement, only a few. Mouse droppings found in the attic, a problem.
IF YOU ARE HEARING A HIGH PITCH SCREECHING AT NIGHT AND ARE SEEING WHAT YOU THINK ARE MOUSE DROPPINGS IN YOUR ATTIC YOUR PROBABLY HAVE BATS.
If you are hearing running growling sounds like and cat and dog fighting coming from the attic at anytime you probably have Raccoons. As they are the only Animals that are big enough to produce running noises loud enough for you to hear through the ceiling.
